Sri Lanka international Shehan Madushanka has been suspended for ‘alleged possession of illegal drugs’.
The seamer, who took a hat-trick against Bangladesh on his one-day international debut in 2018, is now the subject of an investigation by the country’s governing body.
A statement issued said: ‘Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to suspend Shehan Madushanka from all forms of cricket, with immediate effect.
‘The decision was taken following the player was arrested by the Police and later sent on remand custody for alleged possession of illegal drugs. The decision to suspend will remain intact until a full inquiry is conducted by the SLC into the matter.’
Madushanka played just twice more after his dramatic bow on the international scene, a pair of Twenty20s on the same tour, not featuring in over two years.
